I am currently exploring patination, surface texturing and patterning on metal. The color achieved with the Japanese patinas and the incorporation of stones I choose compliment the surface texturing.
In my art, the shapes and colors originate from my memories and my imagination. I begin with sketches. This process is further enhanced by images in nature. I incorporate precious and semi-precious stones, exotic hard woods, prehistoric ivories and natural treasures that I find.
I have worked as an independent metalsmith for over twenty years. I have been an owner and part of two contemporary jewelry galleries. Both galleries featured original designs of artists from all over the country. I have participated in solo and group exhibits in museums and galleries throughout the United States. My clientele has included many celebrities and famous individuals. I hold a BA in Design from the University of Kansas and an MPA from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
